Today was a good day - a very nice lady bought our glass and wrought iron patio table and chairs, plus a metal table big enough to put a couple of drinks on. She was able to take the glass top, the two chairs and the small table but couldn't fit the patio table in her truck. She is returning on Tuesday to pick up the table and I'm going to throw in the last houseplant we have as a thank you.
The patio table has been on CraigsList for quite a while and last week it's presence there elicited two nasty emails from females who were unfortunate enough to be born with a serious lack of grey matter and then raised with truly awful manners.
In essence, they both told me nobody wants to buy my crap, I'm full of s--t and I may as well throw it out. They must lead very narrow and sad existences if they have nothing better to do than read CraigsList ads and then send the sellers bizarre emails.
Ah, but I have my revenge! One of these half-wits used the email her employer provided her with, to wit, the Fraser Health Authority. So of course I've forwarded her email to her employer and I'm waiting to hear back. I expect a lot more than the "thank you very much, we're looking into it" email they have sent so far.
Tales of moving from British Columbia, Canada, to Costa Rica, with husband and cat in tow. And after more than eleven years have never looked back!

Tools Going to Fiji
Can you believe it? All our tools and related thingies (as I call them) are headed to Fiji.
I threw everything remotely connected to manly building activities in a big plastic bin, threw two tool chests on top of it and posted it on CraigsList. I stressed that everything had to be taken - no rooting through the bin and selecting some, discarding others, then offering me ten bucks.
The nice fellow who took it all comes from Fiji and is returning there with his family. He has been in Canada for 18 years and is fed up with the congestion of people and traffic in the Lower Mainland. Pollution is also a factor for him. We can relate to how he is feeling.
He has a big container that he's shipping to Fiji but it is only half full right now so adding tools is no problem. Apparently tools are rather expensive to buy there - I suppose because such things have to be imported.

The Time She Is A'Moving ...
I have this countdown clock on my Google home page .... always nice to sweat a bit when you check your mail. This is what it told me today.
Posted more things on CraigsList. If the more expensive items don't move soon, I'll have to find another way to sell them. There must be second hand furniture buyers around - the folks that hold auctions, etc. I have even marked some things down in price that are already listed on C.L.

Alternative Furniture
Two containers are finally packed - the contents of each photographed, wrapped, numbered and recorded. Container number one, pictured below, is now being used as a television stand. The previous stand is for sale on CraigsList and it is not your usual stand. It is a nifty, large, round planter that I bought in Vancouver's Chinatown. It has a dragon in relief running around the perimeter.
I bought it originally because I thought it would make a super indoor water fountain. I plugged the hole in the bottom with a bathtub stopper and lots of sealing goop but was remiss in not sealing the inside so it always had a slow leak.
So then it became a TV stand but it needed a flat surface on top. Eureka! I used the pullout secretary writing tray from our really wonderful solid oak desk (which is also on CraigsList). In case the desk actually sells, the writing tray will go. The container is now being used as a TV table. Do you like our television? I bought it at the Sally Ann for $25 a number of years ago and it works just fine. Yeah, so it's not five feet across ....
You might think I'm really cheap but actually it's more that I'm creative and like to see stuff used in unexpected ways. Speaking of CraigsList, my next post might be all about the idiot, flakey "buyers" out there who keep annoying me. Oh, by the way, those magazines on the floor to the right? All for sale, really interesting, old Life mags from the 20's to the 50's.
