Eyes on Costa Rica and Weather Records - May 2023

During May, visits to this blog were received from the following 9 countries and an unidentified country in Europe:

From the time I started to keep track, the total number of countries and non-independent jurisdictions from which visits have been received remains at 135. Of this number, 13 records are from non-independent jurisdictions - e.g. Greenland (an autonomous territory within the Kingdom of Denmark) from which 1 visit has been received.

The following is a summary of weather for the month in the area where we live:

The rainy (aka "green") season has begun. Almost two thirds of the total rainfall during the year to the end of May occurred in May. The days with measurable rain in May almost equaled the number of days in the previous four months.

In our area, rainy days are often marked by clear sky or broken cloud mornings with rain beginning in the early afternoon and sometimes carrying on into the evening. Generally, we have found mornings to be the best time to do whatever we might want to get done outside - whether that be shopping, walking, jogging, biking, gardening, etc.

The sidebar of my blog includes a link to the website of the Association of Residents of Costa Rica (ARCR). Lance and I have been members since our arrival in Costa Rica and have found their information and services to be first class.

Apart from its website, ARCR publishes an impressive periodical magazine (El Residente). Many who may be planning to visit or move to Costa Rica or who simply have a general interest in Costa Rica may find this magazine to be of interest. A digital PDF version of the current 2023 May-June issue can be found HERE.
